We want to make sure you are happy with any purchases made on our website, as such, we recommend you read the following safety information prior to purchase and before any use.

-------------

PRODUCT SAFETY

It is the customer/dog owners responsibility to ensure all items purchased are suitable for their dog, and do not cause any discomfort. Every dog is different and suitability can vary depending on age, breed in some cases, specific health conditions (where they exist).

We recommend that you measure your pup before making a purchase to ensure you find the correct size. Should further advice be needed to help determine what product is the best for your pet, we recommend seeking advice from a qualified veterinarian or professional dog trainer.

All dog accessories are subject to wear and tear and it is the responsibility of the owner to regularly check the condition to make sure it remains safe for use. If any product begins to show signs of deterioration, it should no longer be used and should be replaced.  The vibrancy and colours of our products may fade naturally over time or due to constant use and washing, this is to be expected.

Our products are suitable for most dogs and for every day use, however, if the dog has behavioral issues or is an excessive puller, this will likely reduce the products life span. We will not refund or replace accessories that have been misused or damaged by the dog, nor shall we accept any legal responsibility for the use or misuse of the products sold.

All our products should be stored safely and out of reach of children and pets. The products we sell are not toys and may pose a risk of injury or choking hazard. Always ensure your pet is supervised when using/wearing our products.

Are harnesses harmful to dogs?

Generally, harnesses are not harmful when used correctly. They are designed to distribute pressure more evenly around the dog’s body than a collar, which can help prevent injuries to the neck. However, improper use, such as using a poorly fitted harness or the wrong type of harness for a specific dog’s size, shape or any pre-existing health condition, can lead to issues like skin irritation, restricted movement, or even injury.

What are the risks of using a harness?

  • Improper fit: This can cause chafing, restricted movement, or allow the dog to escape.

  • Restricted movement: Some designs might impede your dog’s natural walking motion, potentially leading to musculoskeletal issues.

  • Over-reliance for control: Using a harness to manage pulling without proper behavioral training can exacerbate pulling behavior, as it doesn’t address the underlying issue.

  • Skin irritation and hair loss: Continuous rubbing from an ill-fitting harness can lead to discomfort and hair loss.

Is it okay for a dog to wear a harness/collar all the time?

It is not recommended for a dog to wear a harness/collar all the time. Continuous wear can lead to skin issues such as irritation or infections, especially in warm, humid weather. It can also cause discomfort or matting of the fur. Harnesses/collars should be removed after each walk, especially when the dog is left unsupervised or in a crate.

GENERAL PRODUCT SAFETY REGULATION (GPSR)

GPSR became effective on 13th December 2024 and replaces GPSD (General Product Safety Directive). This regulation covers all products entering the EU market that have been manufactured after 13th December 2024.

The following product collections on our website were manufactured prior to the effective date of GPSR, and are therefore considered EXEMPT:

  1. Good Vibes

  2. Fall Bears

  3. Under The Sea

  4. Daydreamer

  5. You Give Me Butterflies

  6. Peachy Perfect

  7. Jungle Fever

  8. Foxy Friend

  9. Rise and Shine

  10. Toucan Play

  11. Virtual Gift Cards

For products manufactured and listed on our website after the 13th December 2024, these will be shipped in updated packaging and come with new labels with information such as the product(s) Batch Number and the contact information of the appointed EU Authorized Representative (AR) and any relevant safety warnings.

Whilst we do our best to make environmentally conscious choices regarding the way we present and pack your orders, some of these new changes (specifically the additional packaging) are necessary in order that we can be compliant with this regulation. The addition of batch number labels means that we have the ability to trace products back in the unlikely event of a safety recall. We recommend that you retain the label(s) or simply note down the batch number for your own record and recycle any surplus packaging.

Please note: AR contact information is for administrative purposes only.

If you have any query or safety concern about your product(s), you should contact us via email (hello@hotdogdrip.com) as soon as possible.
